Siteworks Capsule Talks: Fernando do Campo

As part of Siteworks: From a deep valley, Bundanon presented a quick-fire program of talks from leading scientists, artists and First Nations knowledge holders, sharing ‘weather reports’ from this time and place.

Follow The Pink Ribbon focuses on four animal species with histories of introduction at Bundanon; the Stuttering Frog, Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Superb Lyrebird and the Satin Bowerbird. 

An animal that might be native and protected in one part of the country, may be exotic or a pest somewhere else due to human intervention. This series of postcards, written across time and species, consider the knotted human-animal histories that one encounters alongside these four animal companions. 

The project invites human visitors to Bundanon to also reflect on their own companion species histories by writing postcards to the species they encounter on site. These will be scanned and archived on the World Weather Network.

Fernando do Campo

Fernando do Campo (b. Mar del Plata, 1987) is an artist currently based in Sydney. Since 2015 he also produces work as the HSSH (House Sparrow Society for Humans). His practice is interested in the animals carried by history and the histories carried by animals. Fernando has presented solo exhibitions in Australia and the USA and in group exhibitions internationally.
