In her talk organized on 22 October, Burcu Yağcıoğlu maps the act of stopping and the concept of inertia from different perspectives, and addresses it as an alternative to doing, to motion and change. Presenting her research that spans from the history of laziness to biothermodynamics, thus life's most essential interrelation with stopping and enthropy with images, Yağcıoğlu concludes her artist talk with an analysis of Ursula Le Guin's Lathe of Heaven from 1971 in terms of the climate crisis and context of motion/stopping

Burcu Yağcıoğlu

Pratiği desen, video, kolaj ve resim gibi çeşitli disiplinleri kapsayan Burcu Yağcıoğlu (d.1981, Istanbul), türler, doğa ve kurgu arası ilişkileri ve değişimleri araştırır. Enformasyon dolaşımı, doğa algıları ve verili kültürel hiyerarşiler çalışmalarının odak noktasını oluşturur. Üretimini gif animasyonlar, kitaplar ve ansiklopediler gibi çeşitli görsel sistemler ve ürünlerle besler. Mimar Sinan Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Resim Bölümündeki lisans eğitiminin ardından Sabancı Üniversitesi Görsel Sanat ve Görsel İletişim Tasarımı bölümünde yüksek lisansını tamamlayan Yağcıoğlu, 2008 yılında Londra Goldsmiths Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Bölümünde ikinci yüksek lisans eğitimini alır. Son dönemde İstanbul Modern, Amerikan Hastanesi ve Sabancı Müzesi’nde karma sergilere katılan sanatçı Ever Spring Museum (Tayvan), Elgiz Çağdaş Sanat Müzesi ve son olarak Galerist’te kişisel sergiler açmıştır.
