About this Report
Breath
Breath (2022)
I made my way to the rivers edge to watch the full moon rise.
To be still with the water.
To be absorbed into silence. The darkness. The cold.
Searching for a point of disappearance.
Certain events earlier in the day indicated that I had lost a dear friend forever,
The emptiness inside echoed in the surrounding environment.
The moon finally rose in all of its sublimity.
I exhaled all contained emotion,
illuminated fleetingly by the heavenly body.
Only to vanish into the abyss.
Jacobus Capone
Jacobus Capone maintains a practice that incorporates performance, photography, video installation, painting and site-specific work. Characteristically poetic there is a holistic nature to his undertakings which increasingly attempt to integrate all action, however perceived by others, into the wholeness of one lived experience. In 2007, he traversed Australia by foot, in order to pour water from the Indian Ocean into the Pacific.

Bundanon’s annual presentation of environmental research projects and public programs has a decade-long history. In 2022, Siteworks is presenting a family of projects that draw on climate research, critical thinking through contemporary art, creative digital spaces, and Indigenous knowledge and technologies. The starting point for Siteworks 2022 is the concept of the weather report, borrowed to map both environmental and emotional spaces, and chronicle internal and external landscapes.
This expansive program includes a new exhibition, outdoor installations, a laboratorium space for workshops and performances, as well as talks and events over weekends throughout the season. Siteworks 2022 posits the artist as a kind of weather balloon, capturing a collection of reports on our place and our time.
